Top Reasons to Consider Going Solar

Solar energy is becoming more and more popular with homeowners these days. As the threat of global warming gets more real, many homeowners are making the investment in solar energy systems and reaping the benefits that those systems provide. The reasons for this are quite simple:

Decreased Electric Bills
Solar energy is sustainable and renewable, which is great news considering that you will likely see a huge reduction in your electric bill. Lower electric bills mean more money for your savings account, for your retirement, for a vacation, for your child’s college fund, to repaint your home – whatever you’d like.

Environmentally Responsible
We humans are the stewards of this planet and as such, we are responsible for protecting it. Science has proven that global warming is very real, and more and more people are going “green” to try to help the Earth. It doesn’t hurt to be able to say that you are among those trying to save our planet.

A Good Investment
Adding a solar energy system to your home is wonderful for your home’s equity and resale value. It adds to your investment portfolio as well, which means you are also investing in your future. That just makes good sense.

You Are Among the Energy Independent
By not using oil and gas to power your home, you are helping our government decrease its dependency on foreign oil, and become independent. The more independent we are as a nation, the more money we can invest in ourselves, and taxes will be lower.

Going solar is an investment in your family’s future, as well as in the planet that is our responsibility. It protects ecosystems, which in turn protects our wildlife, and our water supplies. It is the best way to show that you care about what happens here, as well as being very advantageous for your own pocket book. Solar energy systems pay for themselves almost immediately, and add to your home’s equity. Going solar is no longer a fad. It is essential to the health of the Earth.

Why Green Energy is Good for the Economy

Remember a long time ago when smokestacks filled city skylines? The darker the skies, the more jobs there were in cities like Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. It took a lot of energy to run those factories, which made the very things that made America great– things like automobiles, steel and other goods that literally helped build America.

Today you’re not likely to see as many dirty smokestacks as alternative forms of energy have replaced the burning of fossil fuels in many cases.

Is green energy from renewable resources good for the economy? Surprisingly, yes! It turns out that solar energy, for instance, now employs more people than traditional coal, gas and oil combined. According to a report from the US Department of Energy, solar energy employed 374,000 people in the 2015-2016 year compared to fossil fuels employing some 187,000 people. As you’d imagine, coal has declined sharply, especially in the past ten years.

It seems like solar energy is not only more environmentally-friendly than previous ways to harness energy, but also economically sound… and thriving. More and more workers are constructing various projects that enable the sun’s rays to power our everyday lives in smart ways that include heating pool water, providing electricity to residential homes, and lighting signage along highways.

Over one hundred countries in the world have set renewable energy targets. They want to get away from reliance on fossil fuels and move to different energy sources, such as solar, in order to power their countries. For instance, the European Union set a goal of acquiring 20 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by the year 2020.

What happens when countries decide to “go green?” New jobs are created. Efficiency is improved. Money is made. Consumers like it because they’re saving money on their utility bills.

Solar energy is an ethical and attractive investment; it’s good for the economy and good for the planet. If you’re in the Albququerque, NM area, make sure to read more about our solar panel services in the Albuquerque market.

New Homes in Miami Require Solar Panels

As the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source out there, solar power is the energy of the future. Because of its many benefits, more and more individuals and companies are going solar. And just this month, South Miami passed a law requiring that anyone buying a new home or renovating their existing one install solar panels.

The Whats

Under South Miami’s new law, any homes being built that are larger than 1,100 square miles will need to install solar panels. Any home renovations that replace or extend more than 75% of the building are also subject to this law and thus require the owners to install solar panels.

South Miami is the first city in Florida to pass a law of this kind, and the fourth in the country. The law will go into effect on September 18.

The Whys

Lawmakers and government officials cite looking toward the future as their reasoning for passing this new legislation. As South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard explained the night the measure passed, “Solar reduces the cost of home ownership, it makes houses sell faster, it returns more to a builder, it makes local jobs, and most importantly, it reduces carbon emissions today to help our children and grandchildren have a better future tomorrow.”

The World Is Becoming Increasingly Solar, Which is Good News for All

Solar PowerFor several years now, there’s been a concerted push by individuals, corporations and nations around the world to increase the use of renewable power sources. Wind and geothermal have been popular, but nothing like the adoption rates of solar power. Solar is simple to install and can work in nearly any location that receives sunlight, making it versatile and adaptable in situations at nearly every parallel north and south of the equator.

China has emerged in recent months as a powerhouse in solar energy generation. According to Computer World, in the first half of 2016, the nation has added new solar power generation sources that are capable of creating 20 billion watts, significantly beating industry analysts’ estimates and further securing it’s position as the top solar power generating nation, a title it took from Germany just last year. China’s National Energy Agency is also forecasting growth to continue at record levels, and aims for 150 billion watts of generation capacity by the end of the decade.

This is just one of the latest signs that the solar industry as a whole is moving us into a solar-driven era of renewable power. Domestically, great strides are being made as well. In Nevada, Scientific American reports that the Crescent Dunes concentrated solar facility now uses a new method of melting salt using the sun’s energy during the day to keep electricity-generating turbines running throughout the night, creating the world’s first solar generation plant that can make power 24 hours a day.

Further to the west, California – long known for its green energy efforts – has made new advancements as well. Just last month, California Independent System Operator – a utility in the state – announced that it had broken its single-day generation record. According to Inhabitat, CISO generated a whopping 8,030 megawatts on July 12, besting the previous record by roughly 2,000 megawatts. Most notably, however, are two facts about this high level of generation. First, the power generated is capable of serving 2 million average households – an impressive number. Second, all power generated came from utility-grade sources, and did not include any of the residential or commercial solar panels that dot roofs across the state.

With so much to gain from solar power, it’s easy to see why companies and residences across the nation are continuing to invest in solar panels and other generation options. At Solar Solutions, we’ve helped countless clients with planning, purchasing and installing new solar panels are their homes and businesses. We even offer financing options, and offer free estimates to help you better understand the prospective costs and benefits of adding solar power to your property. A Brief Look At the Future of Energy

With two-thirds of this planet’s human population living in cities by the year 2050, how can we sustain our environment rather than wrecking it? Obviously, the way we get and use energy will matter more than ever, simply because billions of people’s daily lives will depend on it.

Cities have no choice but to integrate renewable energy into their landscapes in order to both survive and thrive in the coming years.

Solar power is going to take the lead– even in places that don’t seem so sunny. The solar industry is currently being built up to handle an increasing demand, and technology is making it possible to deploy solar power in many ways.

Today, we’re used to thinking of big solar panels on rooftops, but the solar panels of the future will be transparent and mounted on the windows of buildings, thus capturing more sunlight than before. Furthermore, solar cells are being optimized to take advantage of the light that’s available to them.
For instance, in cloudy climates, solar cells can be made to utilize longer wavelengths, in order to effectively harness enough light to be productive.

Remember when people first had giant satellite dishes to receive TV signals? Over time, they became a lot smaller and more compact. That’s happening with things like wind turbines, too. Smaller, lighter, more efficient wind turbines of the future will be built into and onto buildings to capture the wind and turn it into energy. Even right now, this sort of thing is happening: The Eiffel Tower in Paris has recently been fitted with two wind turbines.

Whether it’s wind or solar power, one thing’s for sure: we’re moving away from polluting energy sources, and moving toward a planet where clean energy rules. That’s a great thing.

Solar Panels Could Soon Proliferate Up North

Since solar power is fairly new to most people, questions arise about the details such as, “Will it work with a steep roof or a flat roof?” or “What if I don’t want panels on my roof– are there other options?”

In Madison, Wisconsin, a solar demonstration project exists to test out solar panel designs, directions and angles with a focus on figuring out what works best in northern climates like Wisconsin, where it’s more likely to snow in the winter than, say, Texas.

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it to electricity which can then run the many appliances and gadgets in a home like TVs, computers and washing machines.

Since states in the southern part of the USA are well-known for their sunny climates, solar panels have become quite prevalent in places like Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and California. So what’s next for the industry as a whole? The idea is to adjust panels as needed in order to meet the electrical needs of people in the Midwest as well as places far north like Minnesota and Maine.

Overall, solar panels are like most technologies: over time they become more efficient as more people work toward developing smaller, better, faster models that improve on the generation that came before them.

There’s definitely a move away from coal-supplied energy in America and abroad. Solar power is emerging as a major player in the world for supplying people with energy to run their homes and businesses. After all, the sun is an amazing natural resource, and the technology to harness its rays to create electricity has arrived. Now researchers just have to figure out how to make the panels as efficient as possible so that even on cloudy or snowy days they’re still “up to par” with what people expect.

By the way, at the solar demonstration project in Wisconsin, there are solar carports with electric-vehicle charging stations. You’ll also find special “solar trees,” whereas panels are mounted on curved steel structures that look like trees or flowers! The day could come where everything is powered by the sun.

An ITC Extension Would Stimulate Major Growth in the U.S. Solar Market

If you’ve seen more and more solar panels atop people’s roofs, you’ve noticed that solar power has become trendy. And now the U.S. government is helping the solar energy industry continue to grow having just passed a $1.8 trillion spending bill that includes provisions to extend federal tax credits for both wind and solar power generation. In other words, the government is promoting solar panels to make electricity by making them more affordable to all.

The government is essentially investing in solar power to the tune of $40 billion between 2016 and 2020. Look for residential installations to see a 35% boost during this timeframe, while commercial solar should increase by 51%. Hey, if the government is willing to shoulder some of the cost, why not take advantage of the generous offer and have solar panels installed on your roof?

By extending the federal 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC), the U.S. government is offering quite the incentive for people and businesses to convert to some or all solar energy to power their homes and offices. Solar will be beating new natural gas generation on price, meaning you’ll most likely be seeing even more buildings with solar panels on them in the next couple years.

Having the government invest in the renewable energy business by extending tax credits is crucial to securing financing for big solar installations. Industrial clients are ready to take on new projects now that they know Congress has given them their vote of confidence. Old coal plants are out; new solar parks are in. The United States is becoming a more environmentally-friendly, “green” place to live, work and play as solar energy gets a much needed boost.

Even Oil Workers Know: Solar Power is the Future

For as long as it has been around, fossil fuels have been the world’s most constant source of energy. That is however, until the recent emergence of solar power. This form of energy has slowly gained steam and is threatening to topple fossil fuels as top dog. It has created such a convincing case that even oil workers have started to take notice, and for good reason too!

The Proof is in the (Solar) Power

In a recent article on Forbes.com, a oil worker stated he believed that solar power is becoming so predominant for three different reasons. One of them being that the technology for it is getting better and cheaper as time goes on. This is important because any technology that is too expensive struggles to be relevant because it won’t be very accessible to the masses. Another reason he sees it on the rise is because support for it has been very steady and showed no signs of wavering. Also, many sun rich countries around world are starting to invest more in to it to make it a substantial form of power them and their people. In addition numerous agencies have claimed this energy source is only going to continue to grow, showing no signs of slowing down.
